A Brief History - Silver Stream Estate

Since the early 1990s the agricultural nature of the area to the east of Lynnwood, Pretoria gradually started to change from agricultural holdings to residential estates.
In 1992 Anglo American Property Services purchased a cattle farm from well-known veterinarian Dr Stefanus Lombard and developed a residential golf estate opposite property owned by Mr Chris Theil. These properties both bordered onto Silver Lakes Drive. As further housing developments occurred in the area it was in 2004 when Silver Stream Estate was established by local developer Mr Pieter Höll. Mr Thiel was a successful horse breeder so all the street names in the Estate were named after horses previously owned by Mr Thiel (a lovely testimony to these beautiful creatures).
Both Messrs Höll and Theil are still involved in the Estate; Mr Höll is on the Board of Directors and Mr Theil lives in the original farmhouse on the Estate.

A board of 8 directors help to ensure the smooth running of the Estate; previous chairman include Dr Jan Lombard, Messrs Brendon Humphreys and the current chairman is Juan Kemp. The writer has fond memories of Dr Jan Lombard who was chairperson of the board of Silver Lakes Homeowners Association before moving to Silver Stream Estate. Previous estate managers include Messrs Frans Stander, Bone Boonzaier and Chris Scholtz. Since 2019 Mrs Nadia Horn has been estate manager.
The rural nature of the Estate has been kept intact and because of its size, residents who live in Silver Stream Estate feel part of a large family.
In 2024 Silver Stream Estate will celebrate its 20th anniversary, may the Estate continue to flourish in the years and decades that follow.
